Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” - John 4:13-14
From time to time, we get tired of living, don’t we? After all, most of us are determined to spend it by striving for a pleasure-filled life. The kind where we would probably indulge in. Yung tipo na, kahit anong mangyari basta’t para sa pangarap gugustuhin nating suungin ang lahat. However, most often than not, our own desires tend to let us down. Eventually, we reach this point where not even money, power, or anything this world has to offer can satisfy us. Yet sadly, many still fall for this trap.
After gaining it all, how come we still feel that void? After reaching for the stars, how come many of us still wonder if happiness is ever truly a thing? After everything we have been through, how come nothing still makes sense? We were wrong, we thought we figured out life. Akala natin, ‘pag nakuha natin yung mga bagay na gusto natin magiging okay na lahat.
We chase everyday things that we think would fill us. We start our mornings dreaming for that kind of life and yet ending up feeling disappointed. We become thirsty for more, eventually trapping us in believing that we should settle for this – that life is meant to be this. But all along, without realizing, that “good life” we had been chasing, was the one chasing us after all. Love was running after us all along.

Kapatid, ‘di mo na kailangang tumingin kung saan-saan pa; maghanap kung kani-kanino pa; at higit sa lahat, maghabol ng kung anu-ano pa. Hinihintay ka Niya dahil umpisa pa lang naman, alam na Niya kung anong mga gusto mong maranasan at makita. Yung mga bagay na tingin mong kailangan mo? Makakapagpasaya sa’yo? Maniwala ka man o hindi, pero Siya lang ang tanging makapupuno sa’yo. Only God can satisfy this longing; only God can fill us up with this Love we have all been looking for. Only God can quench our thirst; Only God can fill this God-sized hole in our hearts.
Abba, we submit our hearts to You. All our desires, we lift them up to Your Throne. But with all this, we crave for Your presence more – help us to crave for Your presence more. We long for You. Open our hearts that we may seek You more than anything else in this world. For only You can satisfy us. In times when we chase worldly things more than You, oh God, may we be reminded by the Spirit that You are more than enough to quench our thirst; that Only your Love can complete us. Pray for us, Lord Jesus Christ, that we may thirst for You more and more; that we may pursue You more all the days of our lives. Amen.
